The Finance Department is responsible for planning and maintaining the city's financial health through oversight of the Accounting Division, Budget Division, Purchasing Division and Municipal Court. 

Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Annual Budget

The Allen City Council approved the budget for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 on September 12, 2017.  The budget is anticipated to be available online by mid-November when it is delivered to City Council.

For the 17th year in a row, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded the city with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2015-2016 budget document. The GFOA administers the only national awards program for governmental budgeting.

The award reflects the commitment of Allen City Council and city staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the City of Allen must satisfy nationally-recognized guidelines for an effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
